8 sustainable fashion TikTokers to follow

With TikTok’s seemingly endless waves of content and controversies, it can be easy to dismiss the platform as nothing but dances, memes and noise. In spite of all this, we know there are numerous creators with a passion for issues like fast fashion and sustainability. These are a few of our favourites to check out for anything from style tips to activism.

imperfectidealist

Lily Fang, AKA imperfectidealist is a sustainable TikToker-slash-blogger-slash-activist who covers serious issues in fashion with a light, educational tone in her blog and videos. One of the standout features of her TikTok is her series ‘Sustainable or Not where she informs her audience on the true environmental impact of materials and brands. Lily recently highlighted the #PayUp movement, calling on brands like American Eagle to pay garment workers after raking in massive profits.

sustainablecherub

Taylor Bright creates TikToks on a variety of topics, including eco-friendly shopping tips on everything from clothes to water bottles, as well as videos addressing the massive amounts of pollution caused by clothing giants. She’s also calling out the hypocrisy of companies greenwashing but refusing to share profits with garment workers. Taylor tackles the antics of Amazon and shares her approaches to sustainable living, all with a consistently relaxed, upbeat quality, amid sunny LA vibes.

@sustainablecherub

Their sustainably plan is cool but it’d be cooler if they paid their garment workers🤷🏾‍♀️ #learnontiktok #zara #zarahaul #payup #fyp

wandythemaker

One of the biggest accounts featured on this list, Andrew Burgess was recently spotlighted by the Financial Times. He is one of the site’s upcycling stars; cutting up, stitching, and quilting stylish patchwork pieces. He makes everything from jackets and jeans to hoodies and bandanas.

modernvintage_rabia

One of the most striking things about Rabia’s feed is her stylish uniformity, often dressed in block colour jackets popping off a white background. Rabia’s TikTok is host to a line-up of slow fashion tips, such as alternatives to fashion hauls and where to begin with sustainable fashion. What pieces should you buy? How can you style them? If you’re at all interested in sustainable fashion, Rabia’s got some tips for you.

thisiskaybay

Relatively new on the scene, Kayla, AKA thisiskaybay posted her first vid at the end of December last year. Since then she’s gained over 3,000 followers as she takes us through her New Year’s resolution of sustainable shopping, sharing her experiences and giving advice based on her own journey as an “aspiring sustainable human.”

nergiz.debaere

Founder of her own sustainable brand, Nergiz cleverly weaves through the biggest issues of the fashion industry – like greenwashing and haul culture – while scathingly cutting into brands like Boohoo for their poor working conditions and exploitative sales tactics.
