4 queens you will find in every season of RuPaul’s Drag Race

Comedy Queens

Also known as camp drag, this queen doesn’t rest on pretty. Instead, she excels in effortlessly embodying a character and wearing her crown up high. When it comes to racing, these queens serve jokes and laughs; they have a quirky personality and prioritise performance over looks. Tammie Brown is popularly considered the original comedy queen from season one, and although everyone on the panel didn’t appreciate her humour, it prompted her a world tour in 2019.

Comedy queens are notorious for their brutal honesty, their exaggerated nature and their use of satire. They are here to debunk the myth that they don’t take drag seriously and only do it for sheer amusement. They simply do it differently, with a constant joke bomb at the tip of their tongue. There’s nothing more cringe-worthy than when nobody laughs at your joke.

Winner of season six and fan-favourite, Bianca Del Rio is known for mocking other contestants, for her outspoken attitude and as an insult comic. A classic example of her mocking nature shows in a comment she made towards Josyln Fox, “She looks like she walked into Claire’s, fell on the accessories rack, and said ‘I’ll take it!'” Her not-so-kind remark towards Trinity K. Bonet is also quite revealing, “Trinity reminds me of a dear friend of mine from New Orleans… she’s dead.”

You could say she is a bit of a savage. Bianca is recognised for her stand-up comedy show from Episode eight, ‘Queens of Comedy’, and ‘Drag My Wedding’, from Episode ten, both of which she won, duh!

With Bianca and Bob The Drag Queen experiencing the most success post-RuPaul’s Drag Race, this makes comedy queens, (no tea no shade) the most successful type of queen.
