Aidan’s jacket: ‘It’s seen me through five cities’

Finding that perfect vintage treasure hits differently. It’s the simple pleasure of scoring that unique item that seems to have been made just for you. Every day a reader hypes up their best vintage find. Aidan, 30, has shown his denim jacket the world.

What is your favourite vintage piece?

I’ve had this blue Levi’s denim jacket since 2014. Comfortable and casual, I basically live in it.

Where and when did you buy it?

I bought it from a secondhand store in Galway, called Cotton Face Vintage. The owner of the shop was a client of the hairdressers I worked in. I saw it on their website and she brought it to the salon for me.

What made it catch your eye?

It’s a super nice, classic, oversized shape and the material is very comfortable – an essential wardrobe piece!

Why do you like it so much?

It’s universal: I can dress it up and down and layer it with lots of different items! It’s faded really beautifully over the years and it feels moulded to me now. I’ve personalised it with some metal studs on the back panel.

How often do you wear it?

All year round!

How does it make you feel when you wear it?

I feel comfortable in it, it’s become one of my go-to jackets.

How much did it cost?

Like €25 (around £21.55); an absolute bargain.

Can you describe a day when you wore this item that you remember fondly?

It was one of the first items of clothing I packed in my suitcase when I moved to Berlin. It was the only jacket I wore for almost a year before I bought new stuff. This jacket has seen me through five cities, so we’ve been through a lot together.
