ABOUT US

Dear reader,

Welcome to Tablecloth.

These pages are not only conceived for those who wine and dine on mellifluous linen. You’re in the right place, even if you simply use a stained rag from the other day or nothing at all – with laps or library desks as your trusted base. We are as you are.

After all, a tablecloth is much more than a fabric laid out on your surfaces to haughtily show off your interior designer abilities in front of your begrudging guests. For us, it could be an anthropological metonym for a generational divide, a metaphor that represents the discussions at any possible dinner table.

Our transparent ambition is to give you wholesome prompts to spur conversations around the subject matters that you need. From conversations about the latest craze and trends to the memories of the past, all moments of daily life are discussed as we take you on a journey of exploration that highlights the endless possibilities one conversation can take.

What’s on the menu this season?

If I could invite one guest to dinner it would have to be Lin Manuel Miranda, as I am a big fan of musical theater and would love to pick his brain on his various successful projects whilst we dine on the best street food London has to offer.

If I could, I’d travel history to spend the night of 2 November 1975 with Italian director and writer Pier Paolo Pasolini and his friend Pino Pelosi. At their table of Al Biondo Tevere, a restaurant in the outskirts of Rome, the couple would have dinner for a few minutes before Pelosi would allegedly kill Pasolini in a barbaric homicide that remains a mystery.

If I could invite anyone to my tablecloth, it would be Henry Caville.
We could talk about DC’s unfathomable decision to leave him out as Superman and because I know he would make beans on toast look ten times better.

If I had dinner with a dream guest, it would be Callum Turner.
We will eat the magical roast turkey Dumbledore offers with butterbeer at the Hogwarts dinner party.

When I am not writing about fashion and cultural phenomena, I am dreaming about having dinner with Sofia Coppola at the set of Marie Antoinette, where champagne, cake and more cake abound.
